Yotta's OASIS to GDSII file translation utility can be used to import a file in the newer OASIS format into a design flow that supports only the older GDSII format. It complements the Yotta Data Sciences GDSII to OASIS utility which translates GDSII files into OASIS files.

The translator follows the P39-0416 OASIS specification and the Cadence “Design Data Translators Reference” GDSII specification with Y2K extensions. All features of the OASIS format are supported, including CBLOCK records, repetitions, and GDSII-compatible properties within OASIS files.

By default the GDSII file that is written follows a strict interpretation of the GDSII standard. In particular, by default only 64 layers, data types, and text types are supported so that a version 5 compliant GDSII reader can read the file. The number of layers, data types, and text types can be increased to 256 with a command line parameter if the GDSII reader is known to support version 6 GDSII files.

Additional command line options allow more characters in structure names or longer BOUNDARY/PATH point lists, as well as generation of mirrored and rotated AREF lattices that follow common extensions to the GDSII format.
